Soccer

Football or known as soccer is very popular in Europe. Soccer is the NFL of Europe. Anywhere you go you see advertising for the UEFA (Union of European Football Association). The UEFA has a many different countries involved in it like Spain and Ireland. They sell jerseys, playing cards, chocolate, games, and anything else you can slap a soccer player on. Soccer was highly pushed as a kid. During school, while I lived in Europe, we would have field days of just playing soccer all day. Most playgrounds that my brother and I would go to would always have a soccer field instead of the typically basketball courts. Soccer was one of those sports that everyone liked and wanted to play.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association) is also big where I used to live, Switzerland. FIFA was founded in 1904 with the following countries involved: Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland. Compared to UEFA it is not as big but is still is just as important to Europeans. I remember as a kid most of the boys getting the video game FIFA that is based off of the league. From my experience of living in Europe from a young age to coming back to America being almost a teenager, I was confused on how no one cared as much for soccer as Europeans did.
